Yoga Workshop-Mini Retreat at Calders Wharf E14 3PS

November 17th, Sunday 2.30-5.00pm

Next workshop's date and theme TBC

This workshop-mini retreat is designed to help you slow down during one of the busiest times of the year, releasing both physical and mental tension to nourish yourself, to recharge and keep going.

Late autumn is associated with the Earth element, one of the five universal elements. As autumn draws to a close, the Earth element represents transition, grounding, and nourishment. Earth provides the support for the harvest and is linked to stability and foundation. The energy becomes more introspective, preparing for the quieter, more dormant winter phase. It is a time for reflection, reaffirming intentions, and grounding before the cold of winter.

We’ll begin with breathwork to guide you inward, naturally encouraging relaxation.

Then we'll settle into a quiet space of Yin yoga poses, allowing time to soften and let go. It’s an invitation to ground, to explore, observe, and tune into the sensations of the body.

This is a great opportunity to slow down and unwind. In the midst of our busy lives, we often need a place to release the built-up tension we carry. Yin yoga focuses on floor-based postures, held for several minutes with the support of props. Through mindful bending and gentle movement, this practice can deeply refresh the body, mind, and heart, while also enhancing flexibility.

A guided meditation will teach more peacefulness and connectedness.

Long relaxation - Yoga Nidra at the end takes you to the “yogic sleep” - a state of consciousness between "waking and sleeping", induced by a guided relaxation practiced in a lying position. It's a total physical and mental rest.

Therapeutic benefits of yoga Nidra includes: a relief for stress, depression and anxiety, better sleeping patterns, the functioning of nervous and endocrine systems, cells regeneration, clarity of mind, good mood.

Tea and chat in our Sangha (community in Sanskrit) afterwards.

It’s a treat for your body and soul. You’ll leave feeling well stretched, relaxed, more balanced, peaceful and hopeful, confident and ready for new challenges.

It will be held in the big hall at the Calders Wharf, Dockland Settlements E14 3PS. It has views to the river and Cutty Sark in Greenwich (photos above).

Also streamed live on zoom.

You'll have an option to breathe natural essential oils, carefully selected according to the practice.

Candles, Tibetan bowl and relaxing tunes also will be used to enhance the experience.

Here are some yoga mat and props, but bring your own if you can, especially a blanket and a cushion to support your practice and to stay totally comfortable throughout the relaxing part.

"The workshop restored harmony to my body and mind, bringing lasting peace and quiet. The biggest benefit was deep breathing, which allowed for proper relaxation, a lowered heart rate, and a sense of the ribcage opening up. This deep breathing allowed my body to go into a restful state and maintain it." - Thomas

Here is some feedback on the previous workshops:

What did I "take away”:

- The energy and warmth I felt by being together in a space with other people.

- The confirmation of how important it is to meditate and be connected to the moment.

- How yoga has helped with my physical and mental balance and health.

I look forward to the next workshop!” - Carmela

"Your workshop was lovely and very relaxing! The way you structured the workshop was brilliant and each section flowed seamlessly into the next...

I was surprised that the two hours seemed to go by so quickly. I found the longer stretches very useful and the end relaxation was so relaxing I nearly fell asleep

I’d definitely be up for another workshop and joining online did work well for me.” - Zoë
